Barca don't give up: Money and a player for Bastoni

Inter have reportedly received an intriguing offer for their centre-back. Can they refuse it?
Alessandro Bastoni was one of the biggest tragic figures in Italy's shocking defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup play-offs, and arguably the #1 culprit in the failure, as he was sent off minutes before the break.
Nevertheless, life goes on. The national team wound definitely still hurts, but Bastoni's focus is now elsewhere - on his future, to be precise.
The rumours about his potential move to Barcelona have been spreading for some time, and even though the latest information stated that the Catalans are unable to splash out €60-80 million that Inter Milan demand, the La Liga table-toppers may have found an alternative solution.
Namely, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Barca are willing to offer less money for the centre-back's transfer, but include their 19-year-old gem, Hector Fort.
🚨🎖️| The remaining step in the Bastoni deal is to agree a fee with Inter Milan. The club are demanding a high fee, while Barça are offering around €50M. Hector Fort maybe involved to reduce the fee as he is appreciated by Inter. [@MatteMoretto] #fcblive 🇮🇹 pic.twitter.com/5TD3ImcdEb

The young right-back is currently on loan at Elche, and has missed the last four months due to a shoulder injury, making only 12 appearances this season and recording two goals and as many assists.
Now, the ball is in the Nerazzurri's court, and their response is awaited.
Still, they have more important things to think of today, as they'll host Cagliari tonight (21.45) in one of the most crucial games in the Serie A title race.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Bastoni won't be at the manager Cristian Chivu's disposal for the duel at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, but not because of an injury, suspension, or punishment, but to get some rest.
Either way, his "transfer case" remains open, with further development expected in the near future.
