Xavi's revolution is showing no signs of slowing down

They are playing well, the goals are flowing again - and there would be notable additions to the Barcelona squad in time for next season! According to Catalan media, AC Milan's Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie has already signed a contract that would make him a Barcelona player in July.

For a few months, there were speculations on where would Kessie go next after he appeared reluctant to extend his stay with the Rossoneri. Despite his team playing well and topping the Serie A table, the former Atalanta star has jumped on the opportunity to become one of Xavi Hernandez's key players in the middle of the park.

The 25-year-old Ivorian has so far spent his entire professional career in Italy, since signing for Atalanta at the age of 18. After a loan at Milan, the Rossoneri decided to sign him for $26.4 million. He has been progressing during his three years at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza until he became irreplaceable in Stefano Pioli's midfield. This season he has played 29 games, in which he has scored six goals. Xavi explicitly wanted the club to recruit Kessie because he's the type of player they don't have in his team.

Another player who is almost certain of pulling on a Barca shirt in July is Andreas Christensen, Chelsea's centre-back. The 25-year-old Dane was targeted by Bayern and a host of other clubs, but it seems that Barcelona president Joan Laporta had an ace up his sleeve to convince the solid stopper for switching Stamford Bridge for Camp Nou. With Chelsea in off-the-field chaos amid restrictions and the potential takeover, the Blues are not in a great position to keep their players - especially those whose contracts would soon expire.

With Kessie, Christensen, previously signed Ferran Torres, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Adama Traore, and young guns led by Ansu Fati - Xavi's Barca will be fun to watch. And they might even become genuine contenders to win La Liga again.
