Real Madrid won 3-0 in Cadiz with both players scoring again
On one side, an injury-crippled Real squad with two surprise draws in the last four games (Seville, Rayo Vallecano); on the other side, relegation strugglers Cadiz, with a terrible run of eight league games without a win (three draws and five defeats). With so many injuries before (Courtois, Kepa, Militao, Tchouameni, Arda Guler) and after the international break (Vinicius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga), coach Ancelotti somehow managed a strong first 11 but was ‘thin’ on the bench with five youth team players who were called in. But in the end, that was more than enough for the weak guests and for the comfortable 3-0 win.
Bellingham got the start, and he finally played with the players who were sitting on the bench because of him – Kroos and Modrić. The Englishman continued with his scoring streak, but even thou he scored his 14th goal of the season (in 15 games), Rodrygo was the man of the match. The young Brazilian shone when his international teammate Vinicius was missing, scored a brace and had at least as many good chances. Rodrygo was in the spotlight last week after the 1-0 loss to Argentina in the World Cup qualifiers when he labelled the Argentineans as ‘cowards’ and was criticized by Messi during the game and racially abused afterwards on social media networks. But all those unfortunate events didn’t stop his great streak, which is now three games in a row with at least a goal or an assist. In the last three games (Braga, Valencia and Cadiz), he scored five and assisted for three goals. With so many first-team players injured, Real is hanging on with victories from individuals like Bellingham, Vinicius and now Rodrygo.
