Shabana FC goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng has bid the club farewell ahead of his move to Tanzanian Premier League side, Pamba Jiji FC
Ochieng enjoyed an outstanding campaign with the Glamour Boys, winning the FKF Premier League 'Golden Glove' after keeping 16 clean sheets last season.
His impressive performances, during his two- yeear stay at Shabana, attracted interest from several local clubs, but he has opted for a move to Tanzania.
At Pamba Jijii, he will reunite with Kenyan tactician Francis Baraza and goalkeepers' coach John Waw, who also serves as the Kenya U17 women's national team's goalkeepers' trainer.
The goalkeeper announced his departure in an emotional message on social media, expressing gratitude to the Shabana faithful.
"Through the highs and lows, and against the waves and tides, we stood together as a family and conquered every storm," Ochieng wrote.
"To the Shabana FC Kenya fraternity, thank you for the love and support you gave me. For becoming a home and a family, I say thank you. The flag flew high, the bar was raised, and a statement was made. I'm truly grateful."
Ochieng previously featured for Mathare United and Ulinzi Stars before joining Shabana, where he established himself as one of the league's top goalkeepers.
His move to Pamba Jiji marks his first stint outside Kenya.
Shabana have already moved to strengthen their goalkeeping department by signing Bixente Otieno from Posta Rangers and are expected to recruit another goalkeeper following the departure of Maxwell Mulili, who is set to complete a permanent move to APS Bomet.
