Reading Time: 2min | Wed. 11.05.22. | 19:32

Last year's final edition of the competition was held at Cotonou, Benin

The final for the 2021/22 CAF Confederation Cup set for Friday, 20 May 2022 will be played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria, CAF has announced.

The kick-off time for the final showpiece will be confirmed later by CAF.

The announcement comes just days after the continental football governing body confirmed that Morocco would be hosting this year's edition of the CAF Champions League final, for the second year running, a decision that brought an uproar across the footballing circles in the continent.

Since CAF adapted the one-legged finals in 2019, North African countries have played hosts in both competitions across the two editions that have been played in that format except in only one instance.

In the 2019/2020 season, CAF Confederation Cup final was held in Morocco, with the subsequent one being held in Benin, the only exception while the CAF Champions League 2019 edition was held in Egypt and the subsequent one in Morocco.

Last year (2021), the TotalEnergies Confederation Cup was hosted in Cotonou, Benin where Morocco’s Raja Club Athletic beat Algerian side, JS Kabylie 2-1.

With the second leg of the semifinals set for the coming Sunday, South Africa's Orlando Pirates and DR Congo’s TP Mazembe take the advantage after their respective 2-0 and 1-0 wins over Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli and RS Berkane of Morocco respectively.
