The eagerly awaited clash will, however, be played behind closed doors due to security concerns following the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, whose state funeral preparations have affected stadium availability.

The fixture was initially scheduled for Kasarani Stadium, but the venue sustained damage after thousands of mourners attended a public viewing on Thursday, leaving the pitch and stands in poor condition.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) later confirmed the shift to Ulinzi and announced that fans would not be allowed entry.

Police head into the encounter buoyed by their domestic form and the desire to reach the CAF Champions League group stage for the first time in the club’s history.

The law enforcers began their continental campaign with a 3-1 win over Mogadishu City Club in the first leg of the preliminary round, before losing 2-0 in the return fixture.

The aggregate result saw them advance courtesy of the away goals rule.

Their opponents, Al Hilal, progressed after edging Jamus FC of South Sudan 1-0 on aggregate, following a goalless first leg and a narrow victory in the return match.

Kenya Police coach Etienne Ndayiragije says his team is well-prepared for the challenge and ready to seize the moment.

So far, so good. We thank God that everything is going well, and we have no concerns at the moment,” said Ndayiragije.

We are waiting for the players who were with the national team to rejoin us so we can continue from where we left off. Our preparations have been great, not just technically, but mentally as well. We are in a good place to get positive results.”

Team captain David Ochieng echoed his coach’s optimism, acknowledging the magnitude of the tie.

Al Hilal are a strong side, but we are ready,” said the experienced defender. “This is a do-or-die match. A win would mean history for us, Kenya Police reaching the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the first time.
