Police are set to face Al Hilal in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on Friday, October 17.

However, the match venue remains uncertain.

The Nyayo National Stadium, their home ground, is expected to host the State Funeral Service of the late Odinga on the same day.

Despite the uncertainty, Ochieng says the team remains fully focused on the task at hand and is confident of rising to the occasion.

Al Hilal are a strong side, they have been in the group stages of the Champions League several times, but we believe we are ready to face them,” said Ochieng.

The boys know what is at stake, and we shall fight hard to get a win. If we do, we will dedicate that victory to the former Prime Minister, in honour of his support for Kenyan football.”

The seasoned defender described the upcoming clash as a do-or-die encounter, with both sides eager to secure a place in the lucrative group stage of the continental showpiece.

This will be a history-making match for us,” Ochieng added.

If we win, it will mark the first time Kenya Police FC qualifies for the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

We want to compete with the big boys because we believe we belong there.”

Ochieng noted that their domestic league fixtures have served as perfect preparation for the Al Hilal tie, helping the players sharpen their fitness and chemistry.

We’ve had several competitive league matches, which have boosted our readiness.

We know Al Hilal are a quality team, but we are equally prepared to battle them,” he said.

Kenya Police are making their debut appearance in the CAF Champions League this season.

They advanced to the second preliminary round after defeating Mogadishu City Club of Somalia 3–1 on aggregate.

The first leg of that tie was played at the Nyayo National Stadium, where Mogadishu City Club acted as the home team due to Somalia’s lack of a CAF-approved venue for international fixtures.
