
CAF confirms group stage draw procedure as Nairobi United await opponents

Nairobi United earned their historic place in the group stage after defeating Étoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia 7–6 on penalties
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the official procedures for the CAF Confederation Cup 2025/26 Group Stage Draw, scheduled for Monday, 3 November 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The much-anticipated draw will begin at 2:00 PM EAT at the studios of CAF’s broadcast partner, SuperSport, and will determine the composition of the four groups (A–D) for this season’s competition.
Nairobi United, who are making their debut appearance in the group stage, will learn their opponents during the ceremony.
The Kenyan side has been placed in Pot 4 alongside Azam FC (Tanzania), ZESCO United (Zambia), San Pedro (Ivory Coast), Singida Black Stars (Tanzania), and Olympique de Safi (Morocco).
CAF confirmed that the 16 qualified clubs will be divided into four groups of four teams each.
The seeding is based on performances in CAF inter-club competitions over the last five seasons.

Nairobi United earned their historic place in the group stage after defeating Étoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia 7–6 on penalties, following a 2–0 loss in the second leg that leveled the tie 2–2 on aggregate. Goalkeeper Kevin Oduor was the hero, saving two penalties and converting the decisive spot kick.
Under coach Nicholas Muyoti, the Naibois also eliminated NEC FC of Uganda in the second preliminary round, progressing on away goals after a 3–3 aggregate draw.
The draw will be broadcast live across CAF’s media platforms and on SuperSport, as the country awaits to see which group Nairobi United will land in for their debut campaign.
