The duo were on Tuesday, 2 June announced for the event, which will attract some of the top international stars on the roads of Boston and Cambridge.

“This year’s B.A.A. 10K will kick off the summer racing season, and brings together more than 90 of the most accomplished athletes in the sport,” Mary Kate Shea, B.A.A. the Chief Operating Officer, said of the field announcement.

“Top athletes across the Open, Wheelchair, and Para Athletics Divisions from 21 countries will lead the way for a field of 10,000 participants on race day.”

Lokedi, a two-time Boston Marathon champion, will return to familiar grounds, as she looks to defend the title she won last year, having covered the 6.2-mile course in 31:39.

“Boston holds a special place in my heart, and I look forward to running through the city once again in June at the B.A.A. 10K,” Lokedi told the organisers.

“From the 10K to the Boston Marathon, the community comes alive every race day. I’m ready to give my best to defend my title.”

The 32-year-old, whose other 10k race comes on Saturday, 6 June in New York’s Central Park, will come up against top runners including: American Rachel Smith, who was the runner-up at the Boston 5K in April, Gladys Kwamboka, the 2025 African champion at 10,000m, Stacy Ndiwa, B.A.A. 10K runner-up in 2023, and Viola Cheptoo, who was second at the 2019 Boston 5K.

Mutiso, on the other hand, headlines a professional men’s field consisting of 13 countries, featuring familiar and first-time faces in Boston.

Among them is Ethiopia’s Dawit Seare, the 2025 Boston 5K champion, who comes in with the fastest 10K in the field, having run 27:21.

Mutiso, whose personal best in the distance is 27:35, will be running his first 10k race since September 2023, when he ran 27:48 at the Birell 10KM Race in Prague.

Other athletes expected include the Kenyan duo of Patrick Kiprop and Alex Masai, who will look to build on their recent performances: a fifth-place finish at April’s Boston 5K and a ninth-place finish at this year’s Boston Marathon, respectively.
