The draw which will take place from 1500 hrs (EAT) (1200 hrs GMT) will bring together a total of 48 teams which will compete in the qualifiers, including the three host nations.

Only 24 teams will book places at the finals.

The 48 teams will be pooled into 12 groups consisting of four teams each, with the top two teams gaining qualification to the 2027 AFCON.

However, groups that will have either of the three co-hosts will have an additional team also earning qualification.

This is because Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have an automatic spot at the 2027 AFCON by virtue of being hosts.

Should they finish in the top two positions, the third placed teams from their respective groups will book a ticket to AFCON.

The qualifiers will be held across three FIFA international match calendar windows, with the first two matchdays held between 21 September to 6 October.

Matchday three and four will take place in the international window between 9 to17 October while the penultimate and last matchdays will take place between 22 to 30 March 2027.

The 24 teams that will qualify will gather at East Africa for Africa’s flagship football event, that will be held from Saturday 19 June 2027 to Sunday 17 July 2027.
