AS Kigali will take on Al Nasr in the second leg on Sunday with the two teams tied 0-0 after first leg.

Kenyan internationals Lawrence Juma and Fredrick Odhiambo will be looking to play a part in AS Kigali’s quest of making it to the Group Stages of the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) after the two were included in the team’s 20 man travelling squad headed to face Libya’s Al Nasr in the second leg this coming weekend.

AS Kigali, coached by former AFC Leopards and Bandari head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo, have a good chance of making it to the coveted Group Stage that come with heavy financial returns as they played to a barren stalemate against the Libyans in the first leg played at Huye Stadium last Saturday.

In that match, Juma started as a substitute but his teammate Odhiambo was not included in the matchday squad that laboured to the hard fought 0-0 draw. giving them a good chance of making it to the third and final round of the qualifiers.

Kigali got the ticket to represent Rwanda in the continental tourney after defeating city rivals APR FC 1-0 in the final of the 2021/22 Rwanda Peace Cup.

The team then begun the process of making it to the prestigious Group Stages of this season’s campaign when they travelled away to play Djibouti’s ASAS in the first preliminary round of the two legged tie where they won 1-0 on aggregate to book their place in the penultimate second round of the qualifiers.

The duo ditched Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Sofapaka and signed for AS Kigali back at the end of July this year.

Juma, the former Nakuru All-Stars, Nzoia Sugar FC and Gor Mahia man had turned down an opportunity to renew his contract with the club after receiving multiple offers both locally and internationally.

Experienced goalkeeper Odhiambo on the other hand left the club barely one year after joining from opponents Wazito.
