Chilean midfielder could be charged 80000 USD (8.6 million KSH) for breaking Covid-19 quarantine protocols. And the reasons he broke the rules are "to die for".
Coronavirus is making life hard for people around the world and daily routines for most have been disrupted. Even though the pandemic is slowly being put under control in some parts of the globe, there is still understandable caution in all reaches of life.
Some people have their routines disrupted less than others do. Take for example Chilean trophy hoarder Arturo Vidal - Inter Milan footballer is now facing quite a fine after he decided not to reschedule his plans that implemented heavy interaction with people.
Vidal is under investigation for reportedly flouting Chile's Covid-19 protocols after he reportedly went for dinner with friends, visited a racetrack and shot a commercial. And all that before testing positive for the virus.
After arriving to his homeland for international duty, he was given a sporting exemption from a 10-day quarantine and was told he should only see close family.
However, Argentinian outlet Clarin state that Vidal broke the rules on a number of occasions and then took over four hours to inform the Chilean Federation of his positive test (he tested positive for the virus earlier this week).
The 34-year-old went for dinner with friends, visited a horse racetrack, recorded an advert, went to lunch and then paid a visit to the second division club that he part-owns, according to the report.
Clarin added that Vidal spent time with a model in a hotel room before joining up with his international team-mates.
Paula Daza, the undersecretary of health for Chile, said Vidal is the subject of an investigation for ‘violating the health bubble', and if he is found guilty the midfielder will have to pay 80000 USD.
After being initially hospitalised with severe tonsillitis, Vidal tested positive for Covid19.
Chile confirmed Vidal was recovering in hospital on Tuesday and had been isolated from his team-mates for 72 hours.
The midfielder confirmed on social media that he had been given a Covid-19 vaccine on Friday, before he later tested positive.

'Happy with the vaccine !!! 'Now we are better for the next challenges with @laroja. 'To take care of each other and to get vaccinated.'
With over 6,000 daily cases reported, infection rates in Chile remain high.
VIdal enjoyed a successful debut season with Inter - Chilean helped the club win their first Serie A title since 2010.
Before missing the end of the season with a knee injury Vidal played 23 league games. He did managed to return to fitness in time to join up with his national team.
He will miss Thursday's World Cup qualifier with Argentina and could also be a doubt for the fixture against Bolivia in six days time. After two defeats, one draw and one victory in their four matches, Chile are currently sixth in the CONMEBOL qualifying standings.
