The Mailmen looked poised for a crucial victory in the rescheduled league match staged at Nyayo National Stadium after taking an early lead in the first half through former Tusker FC midfielder Jackson Macharia.
Coach Charles Omondi's charges held onto their advantage for much of the encounter and appeared on course to secure a defining win against the league leaders.
However, their hopes were dramatically dashed in the final minute of normal time when Gor Mahia struck late to rescue a point.
Substitute Ebenezer Assifuah capitalized on a perfectly delivered ball from Morrison, calmly tapping home with his first touch after the pass skimmed past Rangers custodian Frederick Odhiambo to level the scores.
Morrison’s moment of brilliance capped off a spirited push by K’Ogalo, with the Ghanaian midfielder not only providing the decisive assist, his fourth of the campaign, but also rallying his teammates during a tense phase of the match.
Speaking after the match in a post-match interview with Azam TV, the soft-spoken midfielder disclosed that he repeatedly urged his teammates to maintain belief and fight until the final whistle, reminding them of their status as league leaders.
“I had to motivate my fellow teammates because the opponent was trying to frustrate us,” Morrison said.
“I have been there before where players go down easily and lie on the ground, which demonstrates a wrong mentality for the general team. I had to consistently remind my teammates that we are the champions and on top of the log, so we had to keep fighting. You could see they came for a point, but I had to motivate the players, and that’s how we managed to get the point.”
Reflecting on the outcome, Morrison welcomed the draw, emphasizing that even a single point can prove decisive in the fiercely contested title race.
“A point is welcomed. It is part of the game. Sometimes you go into the game to win, but you end up with a point, and that happens. Even a point is important because it keeps us high on the table standings,” he added.
Despite ten minutes of additional time in the encounter, Posta Rangers remained resolute to hold off Gor Mahia’s late pressure, eventually settling for a one-all stalemate.
The result saw the record league champions reach the 50-point mark, opening a seven-point gap over arch-rivals AFC Leopards as the race for the 2025/26 FKF Premier League title gathers momentum as they aim for a record 22nd league crown.
