Infantino learned more about Mozzart Bet’s involvement in Kenyan football during the global football gathering and expressed admiration for companies investing in grassroots football and lower-tier clubs.
Njagi, who is an FKF NEC member representing the Eastern Region and also among the founding members of National Super League (NSL) side 3K FC, had accompanied FKF president Hussein Mohammed to the congress where he crossed paths with the FIFA boss.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Njagi revealed that Infantino’s attention was immediately drawn to the 3K FC jersey he was wearing because of the conspicuous Mozzart branding.
“During our interaction at the congress, I had a chance to interact with the FIFA president. He was moving around, greeting different people at the congress, and I was seated with some African CAF association presidents,” Njagi said.
“The first thing the president noticed was the Mozzart branding on my jersey. He pointed at it and gave a thumbs-up. It really motivated me to see the FIFA president notice our colours and sponsors.”
According to Njagi, Infantino was particularly impressed that Mozzart Bet sponsors clubs outside the Kenyan top flight, insisting that such support is vital for football development.
“He asked whether Mozzart was our sponsor, and I told him they are the people supporting us and are our official kit sponsors. He then said That's what they love to see in football,” he added.
The FIFA president, who previously served as Director of UEFA’s Legal Affairs and Club Licensing Division, further encouraged more companies to embrace sponsorship in football to help grow the game from the grassroots level.
“He said that what Mozzart Bet is doing is something they like to see in football and even joked that I was marketing the sponsors at the congress, which he said was a big thing.”
Njagi further disclosed that Infantino was impressed by the club’s jersey and promised to follow 3K FC’s progress despite the team competing in the National Super League (NSL) rather than the FKF Premier League.
“He said he loved the jersey and asked me which level we were playing in. He initially thought we were in the Kenyan Premier League, but I told him we are in the National Super League,” Njagi explained.
3K FC is among the second-tier Kenyan clubs currently enjoying sponsorship from Mozzart Bet alongside Migori Youth, Soy United, and Kisumu All Stars, with each club reportedly receiving Ksh6 million in sponsorship support.
FKF Premier League sides APS Bomet and Kakamega Homeboyz are also among the teams benefiting from the company’s football investment initiatives.
