Speaking at a Nairobi hotel following FIFA’s decision to dismiss attempts seeking his ouster, Mohammed urged stakeholders to forge a united front as Kenyan football enters a critical phase.

The meeting also focused on the future of the FKF Premier League, with the federation keen to avoid repeating some of the challenges experienced during the current campaign ahead of preparations for the 2026/2027 season.

Mohammed noted that the discussions were important in helping FKF understand why Kenyan football continues to face recurring problems and how leaders can develop sustainable long-term solutions.

“We want to find lasting solutions for the 2026/2027 season so that we do not continue going through the same challenges we have faced before,” said Mohammed.

While reacting to FIFA’s stance on the attempted ouster, the FKF boss stressed the importance of respecting constitutional structures and football regulations.

“FKF cannot tolerate impunity or smearing because the FIFA family adheres to the rules and constitution and will not bend or break any regulations,” he stated.

Mohammed further emphasised that football should remain a tool for unity rather than division, urging all stakeholders within the game to work together for the growth of the sport.

The FKF president also expressed optimism over the competitiveness witnessed in the league this season, especially during the closing stages of the campaign, adding that the federation is targeting more sponsors to support the growth of local football.

He also thanked the government for its continued support towards football development in the country.

Looking ahead to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Kenya will co-host alongside Uganda and Tanzania, Mohammed admitted the country should expect fresh challenges, particularly around stadium infrastructure and venue availability.

He revealed that FKF is already working on identifying and preparing alternative venues that can help sustain football activities during the AFCON preparation period.
