Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has summoned former Zoo FC players and coach days after the football governing body's prosecutor, Mwaniki Muhuyu opened disciplinary proceedings against them on allegations of match manipulation.
Through the Independent Dispute and Arbitration Committee (IDAC), Isaac Kipyegon, Vincent Ngaira Misikhu, Willis Ochieng Oganyo, Michael Idovolo Madoya, Stanslaus Munyasa Akiya and Sammy Sindani Sabiri have been summoned to respond to complaints against them.
In a letter sent to the six on Monday 5 August seen by Mozzart Sport, they will be required to respond to the complaints against them by FKF who are their accusers.
“YOU ARE HEREBY REQUIRED within seven (7) days of service to respond to the complaint by way of a witness(es) statement(s) or an affidavit(s) together with any submissions that you wish to make by sending the same to the committee,” reads part of the summons.
The statement also went ahead to reveal the consequences of failure to respond to those allegations.
“NOTE that should you fail to respond within the given time, the committee shall proceed to consider the complaint and revert with its decision.”
It is the first time the committee will sit to give the players a chance to defend themselves since they were first banned over two years ago.
Last week, disciplinary proceedings were opened against the six who will be the first batch of accused persons to be charged since the integrity department chaired by Michael Kamure was instituted.
The alleged offences by the six took place between 2018 and 2020 where they are accused of among others, corruptly, dishonestly or unlawfully offering solicited or accepted inducements, rewards or bribes in connection with matches played by the club or other affairs of the Football Kenya Federation.
The players on the other hand have accused FKF for delaying justice and have claimed to be innocent.
Just late last month, former Zoo FC goalkeeper Daniel Kiptoo wrote to the federation to follow up on the progress of his case and lamenting the delay therein.
