The defending champions will be aiming to make a statement under new management against an unpredictable Batoto ba Mungu side.
The Law Enforcers have played only three league matches this campaign due to their involvement in the CAF Champions League in September and October.
Their continental adventure came to an end in the second preliminary round, where they were eliminated by Sudan’s Al Hilal on a 4-1 aggregate scoreline.
With their focus now back on domestic competition, Police will be eager to build momentum and climb up the table.
On the other hand, Sofapaka have already played six matches in the league, winning two, drawing two, and losing two. They head into this game full of confidence after a convincing 3-0 victory over Nairobi United last weekend at Dandora Stadium.
Despite persistent financial challenges, the 2009 league champions have shown resilience against some of the league’s top sides and will be out to frustrate the star-studded Police outfit.
The history between the two teams suggests another tight contest. Both league meetings last season ended in 1-1 draws, underscoring the evenly matched nature of their previous encounters.
This fixture also marks the first match in charge for new Kenya Police FC head coach Dusan Stojanovic, who was unveiled on Sunday to replace Etienne Ndiyaragijje.
The Serbian tactician, who guided Uganda’s SC Villa to the league title in 2024 after 20 years, brings a wealth of experience and will be eager to begin his tenure with a win as he seeks to defend Police’s league crown.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Stojanovic outlined his vision for the club and expressed his excitement about the project.
“I understand the ambitions of Kenya Police FC and what they want to achieve, which is precisely why I wanted to join this project. We are aware of the club’s recent success and future targets, and I can promise a strong start under my leadership,” he said.
The Serbian coach also emphasised his commitment to hard work and continuous improvement.
“I am hopeful that everything will unfold as we envision. I can pledge hard work, a never-say-die attitude, and that we will consistently fight for our objectives. The foundation is solid, but we are lacking goals. I’m confident that with more time, we will fix that.”
The game gets underway at 3 PM.
