Elsewhere in Mombasa, Sofapaka, off a win against Posta, will look to add to Bandari's misery in a 1500 EAT kickoff

The FKF Premier League (FKFPL) match week eight continues with three matches lined up today, Saturday 15 November, as weekend action kicks in with a potential change in the league table.

Ahead of today's matches, Kenyan giants Gor Mahia are at the summit of the league table with 16 points, one more than second placed Kakamega Homeboyz, and four more than league newbies Nairobi United at third position.

At the other end of the table, league debutants APS Bomet are still rooted at the bottom of the league with five points, and are joined in the relegation zone by Ulinzi Stars and Kariobangi Sharks, both with six points.

The biggest highlight of the day will be the match pitting 2008 league champions Mathare United against Mozzart Bet-sponsored Kakamega Homeboyz at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani from 1600 hrs.

The Kakamega-based side have been impressive this season, and have picked up from where they left last season, posting good results that so far leaves them second on the log standings.

Nevertheless, the Patrick Odhiambo-coached side have been winless in their last two matches against Tusker and Murang'a Seal respectively, all ending in a 1-1 draw.

Homeboyz who finished last season at third are keen on doing even better this season by winning the league title, and will have an early opportunity to go top of the table if they beat Mathare United.

Mathare, on the other hand, have been uninspiring this season, losing half of their eight league games so far, and managing only two wins in the process.

For that reason, The Slum Boys are on a three-match winless streak, and are 14th on the league table with eight points, making them part of the relegation matrix.

However, the team’s vice captain Elli Asieche, who jointly leads the league’s scoring chart with four goals, expressed confidence in the team to change fortunes.

“Going forward, our fans will see a winning momentum from us. Against Homeboyz, the team that will be more hungry for the ball and the win will get it, and I believe we will be the one,” Asieche told the team's media.

Last season, Homeboyz picked up four points from Mathare, with former vice Captain Brian Eshihanda scoring the only goal in the 1-0 victory in their last encounter.

At the Kasarani Annex, limping Posta Rangers welcome a resurging Mara Sugar in a clash that will begin at 1400 hrs.

Despite starting the season strongly and leading the table by match week three, Posta Rangers are currently in a bad run - a four-match winless streak that includes two defeats, including in their last match against Sofapaka.

Additionally, The Mailmen who had scored in each of their first four games, have only found the back of the net in one of their last four matches - their 2-2 draw with Murang'a Seal on 30 October, where they blew a 2-0 half time advantage.

They come up against a Mara Sugar side that tasted defeat only once this season, even though four of their seven matches have ended in a stalemate.

After drawing three consecutive matches, The Sugar Millers handed league giants AFC Leopards a shocking 2-0 beating in their last league match to record what was their first home win of the season.

They will be banking on the confidence from that win and Posta’s bad run to take maximum points from today's clash.

Last season, which was Mara’s maiden season in the top tier, the two teams battled out to 1-1 draw in both legs.

In the other match of the day, Coastal side Bandari will play host to Sofapaka at the KPA Mbaraki Sports Club from 1500 hrs.

Bandari, who are 15th on the log, are on a poor run of form, having not won any of their last four matches, with coach Mohamed Borji still hunting for his first win of the season.

Sofapaka, on the other hand, have won three of their last five matches, including a 2-0 victory over Posta Rangers on Monday 8 November.

Batoto Ba Mungu will be seeking a revenge over the double that The Dockers did on them last season, as the latter hopes to continue with their impressive head-to-head against the 2009 champions.
