Nottingham want to surpass Alexander Isak's record transfer from last season
Manchester City have made a verbal offer to Nottingham Forest for Elliott Anderson, according to the highly respected sports publication The Athletic. The initial bid is reportedly worth 122 million guaranteed, while the total package could exceed 139 million through performance-related bonuses. However, Nottingham Forest's hierarchy are demanding an even higher fee before they would consider selling the England international. According to BBC, they have rejected the second bid as well. Their target is for the guaranteed portion of the transfer to surpass the British-record deal from last June, when Liverpool paid Newcastle 145 million euros for Alexander Isak.

Anderson still has three years remaining on his contract with Nottingham Forest, whom he joined in June 2023 from Newcastle. That move was part of a wider deal worth around 40 million, which saw goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos move in the opposite direction, while Anderson was valued at approximately 17 million at the time. The midfielder quickly established himself as a key figure at the City Ground, earned his first England call-up last September, and is now set to feature at the World Cup. Last season, Anderson made 50 appearances for Forest in all competitions, including all 38 Premier League matches. He scored four goals and provided five assists.
City have already said goodbye to Bernardo Silva, John Stones, and Manuel Akanji, while the club are still waiting to make their first major signing this transfer window. At the Etihad, Anderson is viewed as a potential successor to Bernardo Silva, particularly because he recorded the most touches of any player in the Premier League last season—an impressive achievement considering Forest are not a team known for dominating possession.
