Former European champion is the new Juventus coach!?

Italian media are adding a new name to Juventus' coaching shortlist for next season almost every day. It hasn’t been officially stated that Thiago Motta will end his story at Continassa in June—it all depends on how he finishes this season.

A fourth-place finish alone isn’t enough; besides victories, visible progress in the team’s play is also required. The situation is further complicated by the first-ever Club World Cup, which will take place from mid-June to mid-July.

After Gasperini, Conte, and Pioli, another name has now made the headlines—Roberto Mancini is emerging as a potential candidate for the Juventus bench. Unlike Gasperini, Conte, and Pioli, who are all under contract and won’t be free this summer unless they part ways with their current clubs, Mancini is available.

Tuttosport highlights several reasons why Mancini could be a strong choice. Besides being free, his track record shows that he is equally skilled at handling star players and developing young talents—a combination Juventus wants to focus on in the near future.

Additionally, Mancini is tactically flexible, capable of adjusting formations and reading the flow of matches, as well as handling the immense pressure that comes with coaching a club like Juventus.

Meanwhile, Juventus' summer signings from last year have been statistically assessed, and the results are quite disappointing. Three players—Teun Koopmeiners, Nico Gonzalez, and Douglas Luiz—cost the Bianconeri nearly 150 million euros, yet none of them have come close to meeting expectations.

Koopmeiners and Gonzalez have each scored just three goals, while Luiz has yet to find the net. All three have an average rating well below a passing grade of six: the former Atalanta midfielder has 5.79, the ex-Fiorentina winger 5.45, and the former Aston Villa playmaker 5.68. Moreover, Luiz has missed half of the season’s matches due to injuries or tactical decisions by Thiago Motta.

Slightly better performances have come from Conceicao, Kalulu, and Thuram, but despite their ratings being above the passing mark, all three have struggled with consistency throughout the season.
