The custodian has kept four clean sheets thus far this season.

Gad Mathews put up a man of the match performance in the barren draw against Bandari and is angling for the Golden Glove after picking up another clean sheet.

The former Western Stima custodian now has four clean sheets to his name after shutting out Bandari, Vihiga Bullets, Ulinzi Stars and Kariobangi Sharks.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Gad admitted that both sets of teams squandered their chances and has set his sights on bagging his maiden Golden Glove this season.

“We missed our chances, they also missed their chances - all we can do is to now focus on the game against Homeboyz next Saturday,” Gad opened up,

“Keeping a clean sheet is always good for a goalkeeper, this season at least I’m contending for the Golden Glove having kept four clean sheets, last season I missed it,” he added.

The former Kariobangi Sharks shot-stopper has been instrumental to Gor Mahia having the meanest defence this season that has only let in two goals.

Gad has been in contention for places with Malian goalkeeper Adama Keita and credits the competition to him having improved performances.

“Competition has been tough and fair, I’m still fighting for my place with every single game and I have to work hard to make sure I play every single game,” added Gad.
