One of the best players in the world will leave Parc des Princes as a free agent after the end of the season. Or even much sooner...

The hatchets are buried. At least temporarily. Until January 1, 2024.

Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe have agreed on a short-term deal after a few dreadful months in which the Saint's top star was dropped out from the squad.

Mbappe entered the last year of his contract with the Saints and decided to make it through to the end. The plan was to pick up the loyalty bonus - between 60,000,000 and 80,000,000 euros - for staying with the club until September. The idea was to take the money and then go somewhere else (who said Real Madrid) as a free agent next season.

However, the PSG board PSG did not want to allow such a fiasco and started a genuine war with the amazing forward.

The club insisted that Mbappe extend his contract for another year, thus collecting some money for Mbappe. There were uncertainties for weeks, and then the two sides found a compromise as Kylian was brought back into the team.

Without too much explanation. Even Nasser Al-Khelaifi, at the recent Champions League draw, continued to praise Mbappe publicly.

"We had great conversations with him and his family. He is a magnificent player, but also a person. Top professional", said the Qatari a few days ago.

The same Mbappe who was kicked out of the team and trained with the reserve's team?!

So, what's the thing behind such a U-turn between the two sides? L'Equipe reveals on Tuesday...

Mbappe still has not agreed to extend his contract, which expires in June, but he has agreed to give up the above-mentioned bonus, which would cost PSG at least €100m.

Although they might see him leaving as soon as already on January 1, when he'd be allowed to sign a preliminary contract with the future club.

Real Madrid? Or even maybe Liverpool. If Mohamed Salah leaves for Saudi Arabia, anything is possible.
