The team's tactician, Johnathan McKinstry, also expressed his appreciation to the CS, noting that it would serve as motivation for players to compete harder.

Kenya Premier League (KPL) defending champions Gor Mahia's captain, Philemon Otieno, has extended heartfelt gratitude to the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Eliud Owalo, for the invaluable donation of a team bus.

K'ogalo's transport woes were settled on Monday when CS Owalo donated a Ksh20 million 42-seater bus, which is set to be unveiled on Saturday. The customized Isuzu bus is painted green, the home color for Gor, and is already registered with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) under the registration number KDN 068N. It has WI-FI, an air conditioner, and five VIP seats that are comfortable for long distances.

Their previous bus, which they have been using since 2013, was impounded by auctioneers on March 7 for some Ksh1.7 million the club owed their former defender Wellington Ochieng', who played for the Green Army between 2016 and 2020 before moving to Tusker FC. The players have since been using public means to match venues.

The new bus will be uncovered on Saturday at the Kasarani Stadium. The unveiling will curtain-raise their match against KPL newbies Murang'a Seal.

"I want to take this opportunity on behalf of the players to thank CS Eliud Owalo for the good work he has been doing. for this great club. It is the first time this has happened, and we thank him, and may God bless him so much. Once more, thanks, CS Owalo," the visibly excited skipper offered.

The team's tactician, Johnathan McKinstry, also expressed his appreciation to the CS, noting that it would serve as motivation for players to compete harder.

"We have to say a very big thank you to the CS. It is not easy to raise that amount of money to raise a bus that will really support the club. It will have an impact on our travel. You all know moving around Kenya is not easy, so the bus is going to have a positive impact. In terms of the players' well-being, getting into the game, and advertising the players," McKinstry averred.

He further revealed that the bus would serve marketing purposes for the team. Fans seeing that bus in town can generate buzz for the upcoming game.

McKinstry also noted that all was set for the awarding ceremony, adding that the focus was on the uphill task against the impressive Murang'a Seal.

"Players who will make the cut will not be too involved in the unveiling. It will be a great curtain-raiser, but we are focused on the match. We know they are going to be hugely challenging opponents. They have started the season well," the gaffer concluded.
