Ouma was officially unveiled by the Tanga-based side as the new head coach, replacing Fikiri Elias, who left the club a fortnight ago.

Former Sofapaka FC tactician David Ouma has joined Tanzanian Premier League side Coastal Union.

Ouma was officially unveiled by the Tanga-based side as the new head coach, replacing Fikiri Elias, who left the club a fortnight ago.

The tactician had been out of coaching for two months after resigning from the role of technical director at Sofapaka in September just three months after signing up.

The former Harambee Starlets coach endured a torrid time with Sofapaka in the previous season, failing to replicate the 2021/22 performance, a situation that led club President Elly Kalekwa to relieve him of his duties and appoint Christian Francis Haringingo while promoting Ouma to the sporting director position.

Haringingo was sacked last month with Ezekiel Akwana succeeding him.

Ouma will meet and work with familiar faces at his new workstation as the duo of Justin Ndikumana and Felly Mulumba joined the club last year after playing in the Kenyan league for a while.

Coastal Union finds themselves slightly above the red zone due to goal difference after nine matches played. They are positioned 13th on the log with seven points.

Ouma's first task in charge will be an away fixture against Tanzania Prisons, whom they are tied with by seven points each.

The outspoken gaffer boasts of vast experience in the FKF Premier League, having managed Sofapaka FC, Posta Rangers, Mathare United, and national team duties with Harambee Stars and Starlets.

The CAF A coaching course license holder served the Stars bench as an assistant to Bobby Williamson.
