With the title, Ksh3 million cash prize, and a coveted spot in the CAF Confederation Cup at stake, both sides will be eager to emerge victorious in what promises to be a thrilling final.

The race for individual awards and the third-place playoff will also be under the spotlight, while a battle for national pride is expected to unfold between four players from Congo Brazzaville who will be on opposing sides of the final.

Tusker, the 2016 champions, have two Congolese players in their squad, while Police boast a similar number. Interestingly, all four players joined their respective clubs during the February transfer window.

For Tusker, goalkeeper Pavelh Ndzila and left-back Servel Akouala will face off against their Police compatriots, left-back/winger Hernest Malonga and centre-back Jacques Ndecket.

However, Police will be without Ndecket, who is sidelined with an injury. The team will also miss Edward Omondi and David Okoth, with the latter being away on compassionate leave.

Ahead of the final, the Congolese players from both camps are confident of emerging victorious and proudly representing their country on the big stage.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Malonga expressed his desire to help his side reclaim the title and make a third appearance in the CAF inter-club competition next season.

"It feels good to come up against my compatriots at Tusker, but the goal remains winning the cup for my club," said Malonga, who is the only Swahili-speaking player among the quartet.

While the former Singida Black Stars winger could only offer a few words heading to the big game, Tusker custodian Ndzila revealed how the four Congolese players have been dominating headlines in Brazzaville.

The former APR shot stopper said nearly all media outlets in Brazzaville were keeping close tabs on the build-up to the final in the interest of covering the four.

"Having four Congolese players in the final is big news back home. I have been receiving calls and media queries after we qualified for the final.

Playing against fellow players from Congo will be interesting, but I am confident Tusker will win," said Ndzila, who once played as a midfielder in his formative years.

His sentiments were echoed by the media-shy Akouala, who backed his side to end their four-year wait for a title on Sunday.

Ndzila has already tasted the fruits of the cup as he was named the Man of the Match in the quarterfinals against KCB FC.

He subsequently received the Ksh100,000 Humanitarian Cheque, which he donated to Metro Youth in Mathare.
