The duo were announced winners in an award ceremony held at the sidelines of the team's training session on Friday, 21 November at the Kasarani Annex.

Akonnor led the Kenyan giants to a 100% record in October, where they not only won all their three matches, but also kept a clean sheet in the whole month.

K’Ogalo beat KCB by a solitary goal on 5 October, handed Posta Rangers a 3-0 beating, before concluding the month with a 2-0 victory over Mathare United.

To win the award, the Ghanaian tactician beat stiff competition from AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani as well as Patrick Odhiambo and Charles Okere of Kakamega Homeboyz and Tusker respectively.

Speaking after receiving the award and Ksh75,000 cash prize, the 51-year-old attributed the performance to a collective effort from the team.

“Winning this award would not be possible without the support of my whole backroom staff who have worked hard for the team,” said Akonnor.

We have also received great support from the management led by Ambrose (Rachier) as well as everyone involved with the team including the stewards.

I am also happy that our efforts are finally paying off after a bad start to the season where we lost our first match. It is now a challenge to keep working hard and making the players believe in what we do," he added.

For Musa, he scored the opening goal in Gor Mahia’s win against Mathare United, registered an assist against Posta, as well as created several goal scoring opportunities.

The former Kariobangi Sharks winger was delighted to start reaping the rewards of his hard work.

“I am happy for this award," Musa, who alongside a personalized trophy picked a Ksh50,000 cash prize, said. "It shows that my hard work has been seen which is a great motivation. I would like to appreciate my teammates and technical bench who have believed in me and pushed me to be better day by day.”
