The club confirmed in an official update that the Harambee Stars defender has resumed full contact training, and will be available for selection ahead of their crucial weekend clash against Kakamega Homeboyz.
Owino has been sidelined for the past month after suffering an untimely setback on 15 March, during Gor Mahia’s 3-1 victory over Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Complex.
The injury, a partial tear of the lower medial gastrocnemius muscle, required an extended period of rehabilitation, ruling him out during a critical stretch of the campaign.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, the former Homeboyz defender acknowledged the challenge awaiting his side, emphasizing the determination of their opponents, who are equally motivated to finish the season strongly.
“It’s not going to be easy; they are also fighting to finish in a good position, so it will be stiff competition,” Owino remarked.
“We want to collect as many points as possible, ideally the maximum 15,but we will approach it one game at a time.”

Gor Mahia, who currently hold a commanding 14-point advantage at the summit over Homeboyz, head into the fixture buoyed by a 1-0 triumph over arch-rivals AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby.
Victory this weekend could stretch their lead further, and all but confirm their dominance, while any slip could hand their closest challengers a lifeline.
During Owino’s absence, K’Ogalo registered a steady run, winning twice, drawing twice, and losing once while conceding four goals.
His return, however, arrives at a decisive juncture, with five matches remaining.
As the title race nears its climax, Owino’s comeback could prove pivotal in Gor Mahia’s push to reclaim supremacy and erase the disappointment of last season’s near miss.
