Goals either side of half time by Mercy Mang’uro and Magneta Ocharo were all that the Nairobi-based outfit needed to bag maximum points.

Kayole went into the match sitting eighth on the league with 16 points, and on the back of a 1-0 loss to Vihiga Queens in their previous match.

Trinity, on the other hand, have had a good season, and were third on the log with 33 points, and on the back of a 2-1 win over Madira Soccer Assassins in their previous match.

In what was the opening match of match week 20, and the first of a double header at the venue, there was low attendance in the stands by the time the referee blew the first whistle.

Trinity started the match on a high, dominating the early minutes, and made good of their opening chance in the fourth minute, when Rebecca Musango put Hanifa Bajari through on goal, with the latter expertly finding the back of the net to break the deadlock.

Kayole, who were still late to join the party, found themselves still on the backfoot as Trinity kept increasing the pressure in the 15th minute, but Eglay Mukwana and Elizabeth Muteshi were not clinical enough to bury their chances.

The hosts would then start settling towards the 20th minute mark, experiencing good spells of possession in midfield, and utilizing Ocharo’s speed on the tight flank to cause Trinity problems.

Their efforts would pay off in the 32nd minute when Mang’uro pounced on a defensive mix up by Trinity to score and restore parity, as the two teams eventually headed to the break with scores level.

Kayole came back as a more rejuvenated side in the second half, and began to assert their usual build up play and exchange of passes to draw Trinity close. They were however let down by a blunt forward line, occasioned by the absence of Linda Kihara.

Nonetheless, Ocharo, who was a constant threat to the Trinity defense, gave Kayole the lead in the 69th minute, a reward for her troubles throughout the morning.

Having gone ahead, Kayole retreated to a low block defense and match management/time wasting antics until the final whistle, to bag a win that took their point rally to 19, same as seventh-placed Bungoma Queens, as Trinity’s hopes of a top-two finish dwindled.
