Aquino came up against her compatriot Carolyne Rufa who features for Fountain Gate

Harambee Starlets midfielder Vivian Corazone Aquino made her debut for Simba Queens just days after completing her move to the Tanzanian giants against Fountain Gate Princess FC in a charity match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

The former Gaspo FC midfielder came up against her compatriot Carolyne Rufa, a goalkeeper who plies her trade for Fountain Gate.

Both Kenyans featured full minutes as Fountain Gate recorded a historic win over Simba Queens by just a lone goal scored in the first half of the match.

While Aquino did well anchoring the midfield for her new side, it was the other Kenyan in goal for Fountain Gate, Rufa, who had the better performance, as she kept her team in the lead with crucial saves from time to time.

Rufa had a successful outing with Fountain Gate last season and was even awarded as the best foreign player at the end of the campaign.

The 23-year-old midfielder completed a move to the Tanzanian champions on Wednesday, with the club confirming the capture of the Kenyan international, noting that she joins on a two-year deal that will see her at the club until 2024 and is Simba's second signing for Simba after attacker Zainab Mohamed.

The former Atletico Ouriense player becomes the second Kenyan player to play for Simba Queens after Bertha Omita who joined the team in 2020 but lasted for only one season before coming back to the country.

Simba Queens are beefing up their squad ahead of the new season where they will be out to defend the league title and win their fourth consecutive title.
