The 22 -year-old pulled up his team's last match against Hull City last weekend

Harambee Stars defender Collins Sichenje will be assessed ahead of Charlton Athletics’ final game of the season against Swansea City on Saturday, 2 May, to deem whether he will be fit to make a swift return from injury.

Sichenje, 22, was only on the field for 28 minutes last weekend against Hull City, when he pulled up with what looked like a muscle injury, with Reece Burke coming in his place.

The injury was yet another setback the Kenyan suffered since joining The Addicks in January, having stayed out of the team for seven matches through March and early April with a similar issue.

Asked about his status going into the EFL season-ender at the Swansea.com Stadium (1430 EAT), Charlton manager Nathan Jones drew a blurred line over his availability, instead placing in a group of players that needed to give one more effort to finish the campaign.

“This season has taken its toll and people have gone through a lot to get us over the line,” Jones said in his response to the statuses of Sichenje, Greg Docherty and Amari' Bell. “They've played through illness and injuries and shown real humility.

Every day we're dusting them down and asking them to go once more, because they can have all the time they want from Sunday onwards. Just one more big effort is all we’ve asked for."

Sichenje and Doherty, who all got injured against Hull, join the aforementioned Bell, Kayne Ramsay and Matty Godden, as players whose availability for the weekend game is still up in the air.

Meanwhile, Jones will be without the services of Josh Edwards, who remains sidelined with an ankle injury.

Charlton, having secured their Championship status for next season with the win over Hull, go into the last game of the season with a chance to finish as high up as 17th, should they win.

"All we are thinking about is to win the next football match, we want to go and finish as high as we possibly can. We want to win the game,” Jones said, when asked if the game would provide an opportunity to play untested players.

"We play Dartford in pre-season; we want to win the game. We go to Slovenia, and we want to win the game. We play in the Carabao Cup, we want to win the game. We go to Swansea away on the last game of the season, we want to win the game. I am very proud of the team we are."
