Kenyan international Collins Sichenje suffered another injury setback as Charlton Athletic edged Hull City 2-1 in an English Championship clash at The Valley.

Sichenje, deployed on the right side of a three-man defense, endured a difficult start after picking up a yellow card in just the second minute.

His outing was then cut short in the 28th minute after he was forced off with an injury, with Reece Burke coming on as his replacement.

Charlton had taken an early lead before Hull City restored parity in first-half stoppage time.

However, a 68th-minute strike from Jayden Fevrier sealed victory for the hosts, lifting them to 19th on 53 points, six clear of the relegation zone.

The injury comes as a fresh concern for Sichenje, who had only recently returned to action and was making just his third appearance after recovering from a previous muscle problem.

In Germany, Harambee Stars prospect Linton Maina started for FC Köln but could not prevent his side from slipping to a 2-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

Maina featured for 62 minutes before being substituted, with Köln already trailing 2-0 at the time. The hosts managed a late consolation in the 77th minute, but it proved insufficient to change the outcome.

Elsewhere in England, midfielder Clarke Oduor was involved as Grimsby Town cruised to a dominant 4-0 victory over Swindon Town in League Two.

Oduor started the match and played 61 minutes before making way for Jamie Walker, with all four goals having already been scored by the time he left the pitch.

In Poland, Harambee Stars left-back Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma remained sidelined through injury as Raków Częstochowa secured a 2-1 win over Lechia Gdańsk.

The result saw Raków climb to fourth place on 46 points, strengthening their grip on a UEFA Conference League qualification spot.

Meanwhile, in Scotland, striker Jonah Ayunga featured for 54 minutes as St. Mirren suffered a surprise 2-0 home defeat to bottom-placed Livingston in the relegation group.
