After a month-long speculation, Omija completed permanent transfer from K'Ogalo to Tunisian giants Etoile Sportive du Sahel (ESS) on Tuesday, 9 September.

The Harambee Stars defender had left the Kenyan camp after the 3-1 defeat to The Gambia for medical assessment and complete his transfer before the Tunisian transfer window was closed.

After putting pen to paper, Omija, who also turned out for the Gor Mahia youth team, took to his Facebook account to address the K'Ogalo fraternity.

“Gor Mahia will forever be my Home. Gor Mahono (mystery). The blood has been green since Gor Mahia Youth,” read his opening statement.

“And for the past year, playing for Gor Mahia has been a true honour. Very incredible, full of emotions, will miss every moment, battles and smiles we shared. Wishing you the very best in future," added Omija.

The 22-year-old was one of the club's fan favourites last season despite the underwhelming performance that saw them end the season trophyless.

“To the Green Army Supporters, thank you for your love and support. You made it more beautiful .I Wish I could have said goodbye in a better way, but just know my love for you is endless,” stated Omija.

“And to the club's management. Nothing much. I appreciate each of you. With Much love. All the best ,” he concluded.

Omija is one of the success stories from the recently concluded 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) that, among other benefits, provided a platform for local based players to showcase their talents.

The former Kariobangi Sharks defender was one of the key and constant figures for Harambee Stars in their impressive CHAN performance, standing tall at the heart of defense alongside Sylvester Owino.

The move marks Omija’s return to professional football outside the country. The versatile defender had previously featured for Omani's Dhofar Club.
