Shumah, who is the current top scorer in the Zambian Super League this season, was reinstated back into the starting eleven by coach Osward Mutapa, completing just over an hour in a rugged battle.

The match was Shumah’s first since being declared ill, minutes ahead of Power Dynamos’ 2-0 victory over Zanaco FC at the Arthur Davies Stadium on Wednesday, 29 April.

Shumah, whose last appearance for the Aba Yellow was back in the Absa Cup semi-final victory over Mufulira Wanderers on Saturday, 25 April, was also ruled out of his team’s clash against Konkola Blades last weekend.

The former Kakamega Homeboyz striker could not add to his goals upon his return, playing 65 minutes, before being replaced by Chifundo Mphasi.

On an individual note, Wednesday’s game was also Shumah’s first since Power Dynamos were declared back-to-back league champions last Saturday.

Dynamos, thanks to their 2-1 win over Konkola, extended their lead on top of the standings to 15 points, but with four games remaining then, were announced as league champions for the ninth time in their history.

Their draw on Wednesday did not affect that gap at the summit, with second-placed Red Arrows only settling for a point in their barren draw against Zanaco in a later kickoff.

Shumah’s countrymate Emmanuel Osoro was ,however, missing from the teamsheet, days after being named on the bench in the last match.

Dynamos and Shumah now have their eyes set on delivering an additional piece of silverware, when they face Red Arrows in the Absa Cup final on Sunday, 10 May at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia.
