The former Newcastle star arrives at Camp Nou after a sensational season, choosing Barca ahead of Bayern Munich and Chelsea

Anthony Gordon has officially completed his blockbuster move from Newcastle United to Barcelona in a deal worth €80million, signing a five-year contract that will keep him at Camp Nou until 2031.

And while Bayern Munich and Chelsea both pushed hard to land the 25-year-old winger, Gordon ultimately chose the club he says he dreamed about as a child.

In a detail that immediately won over Barcelona supporters, Gordon even delivered part of his presentation speech in Spanish - revealing he had learned the language years ago because he always believed he would one day play for Barca.

"I knew it would happen," Gordon said after finally being unveiled at Camp Nou following hours of delays caused by paperwork and legal formalities. "I was very calm with my family and agents. All my part was done."

The move caps a spectacular rise for the former Everton forward, who leaves Newcastle after two-and-a-half hugely successful seasons at St James' Park.

Since arriving from Everton in January 2023 for an initial £40million fee, Gordon has developed into one of the Premier League's most explosive attackers. This season alone, he scored 17 goals in all competitions, including an outstanding return of 10 goals in 12 Champions League matches.

Those performances convinced Barcelona to make him one of the pillars of their new attacking project.

He now joins an increasingly Premier League-flavoured squad under Hansi Flick, with Marcus Rashford also currently at the club following his loan move from Manchester United - although Barca have yet to activate the clause that would make the England forward's stay permanent.

For the Magpies, Gordon's departure represents both a huge sporting blow and a massive financial profit.

For Barcelona, meanwhile, it feels like the arrival of a player entering the absolute peak years of his career, one who combines Premier League intensity with the directness and technical profile the Catalan club have been desperately searching for on the wing. And perhaps the clearest sign of how much this move meant to Gordon came before he even touched the pitch.
