"I cried more than in my whole life" - Salah admits on his Anfield goodbye

The Egyptian King leaves Liverpool as a club legend after winning everything

As the final whistle faded at Anfield, there were no fireworks left, no more records to chase and no more trophies to lift. Only tears.

Mohamed Salah walked away from Liverpool for the final time on Sunday, leaving not just as one of the greatest players in the club's history, but as one of its defining figures.

The Egyptian King departs with every major honour possible, countless unforgettable moments and a place as Liverpool's third-highest goalscorer ever. But when the emotions finally caught up with him against Brentford, none of that seemed to matter as much as the bond he built with Anfield.

Salah could barely hold back tears as his teammates formed a guard of honour following his substitution in the second half. Moments later, standing in front of the Kop alongside departing captain Andy Robertson, the emotion completely overwhelmed him.

"I cried a lot, probably more than in my whole life," Salah admitted afterwards. "It's very tough to leave a place like this."

For years, Salah built an image of ruthless composure - relentless, aggressive, unstoppable. But behind the records and goals stood someone who quietly gave everything to Liverpool.

"You always see me tough," he said. "But inside me, I take it like a baby."

The 33-year-old reflected on the journey that transformed both himself and the club. Together with Robertson and the core of Jurgen Klopp's dynasty, Salah helped drag Liverpool back to the summit of world football.

"We left our youth here," he said. "We put this club back where it belonged."

And even in farewell, Salah's focus remained on Liverpool's future. His final dressing-room message was less about talent and more about sacrifice, a reminder of what truly earns immortality at Anfield.

"The fans will not accept less than fighting for everything," he warned. "They don't care only about results. They want you to sweat and give your blood for this club. Then they'll love you forever."

As one era closes at Liverpool, Salah leaves with complete peace.

"Would they want more than what we achieved? Not really. Collectively and individually, we won it all."
