Luis Enrique eyes Monaco star as Paris look to strengthen an already formidable squad, and the playmaker feels ready to accept the challenge

Paris Saint-Germain are already operating from a position of strength - and still, they’re looking to add another layer.

Fresh off another statement run in the UEFA Champions League and with a squad packed with elite talent, PSG are not standing still. If anything, they are doubling down. And their latest target fits perfectly into that vision - Maghnes Akliouche.

The AS Monaco 24-year-old playmaker came close to leaving the Principality last summer, but his €70 million price tag proved a stumbling block. Twelve months on, little has changed in terms of his stock, except that interest is now sharper, more defined, and increasingly centred around Paris.

The driving force behind PSG's renewed push is Luis Enrique, who sees Akliouche as a natural fit for his system, technically gifted, tactically intelligent, and capable of adding another dimension to an already fluid attack.

The club have re-established contact with the player's camp, and internally, he is viewed as one of the standout options to further elevate the squad.

What makes this storyline even more intriguing is Akliouche's stance.

Despite previous links to the Premier League, with clubs like Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur circling, Akliouche is now understood to be prioritising a move to the Parc des Princes.

A move not driven by necessity, but by ambition.

Because PSG are no longer a project in progress. They are a team that has found its identity, its rhythm, and its belief. Adding a player like Akliouche wouldn't be about fixing weaknesses, but about sharpening strengths.

And that's what makes it feel significant. And in a team already built to win, that might be the most dangerous statement of all.
