The German tactician confirmed the news after a Wolfsburg match
The battle is finally over and Hansi Flick lost. The Bayern Munich coach won six titles with the Bavarians in a single season, but still wasn’t allowed to have a bigger impact into the player’s recruitment, and the power struggle with sports director Hasan „Braco“ Salihamidzic is now over.

The German tactician has officially announced he will leave his post when the season finishes. Flick gave a post-match statement to the Sky and mentioned the decision for the first time. The German obviously thinks that five games before the end of the season the title is all but secured, otherwise he surely wouldn’t distract the squad. He told the board his wish a few days before.
„I told the team today that I informed the club during the week, after the game in Paris, I would like to terminate my contract at the end of the season. It was just important to me that the team find out about this from me. I'm absolutely thrilled with this team“ said Flick after the game, without giving the explanation why, but claimed that the decision will be dealt „internally“.
This means that the unpleasant situation with Braco has finally ended. The disagreement with two men over player recruitment has been well documented, and since Flick’s mentor Rummenige is leaving at the end of the season, the German tactician choose to leave too, leaving Braco and his protégé, former Bayern president Uli Hoeness alone on the „battlefield“.
It is almost certain now that Flick will take over the German National team after Joakim Loew steps down. He has been an assistant coach with Die Mannschaft for over ten years and he won’t have problems with recruitment there, he will be the only boss. But, Flick has not committed to DFB yet.
„The future is not at all clear. There has been no discussion about that. Of course, the DFB is an option that every coach has to consider. But I have to digest everything first, the last few weeks have not been easy for me either. That's why the process of telling the club and of course my team was extremely important today" said Flick.
Taking over Bayern initially only as an assistant coach to Niko Kovac in 2019, Flick became temporary coach after the Croatian was sacked in November. But the German exceeded all expectation and firstly he stayed until the end of the season and then signed a new deal until 2023. The Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB Pokal crowns saw him named German Football Manager of the Year, as well as taking UEFA's Men's Coach of the Year award also. Further success came as Bayern won a first-ever sextuple in the club's history, adding the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA World Club Cup and German Super Cup.
