
Kajiado FC bounce back with a statement win over Gusii, Mathare obliterated in Mombasa

Mathare United tasted defeat for the first-time since their demotion from the top flight
Kajiado FC got back to winning ways on Sunday beating a much hyped Gusii FC 3-1 in a National Super League (NSL) game staged at the Illdamat Stadium.
Prior to the match the Mohamed Hamisi instructed side had recorded back to back defeats against SS Assad and Vihiga Bullets which had aggravated concerns from the club supporters.
New acquisition Kelvin Kamande got the ball rolling with an outrageous 29th minute volley before Joseph Luchenga added a second in the 34th minute to take the match far from the coach less Gusii to fend off a little pressure on coach Hamisi before Alfeni Kateti joined the scoring party in the 55th minute.
The visitors who showed improvement after the restart changed their game plan switching to a defensive one that however bore no fruits and could only leave Kajiado with a consolation from Joshua Migiro Chabicha.
The win lifts the Illdamat based club to fourth on the log while Gusii are relegated to ninth on the standings after match week six.
Nairobi United 1-1 Silibwet Leons
At the Utalii grounds in Nairobi, Nairobi United had unceremonious return to action as they came from a goal down to force a draw against struggling Silibwet Leons in highly contested encounter.
Silibwet new rookie Dominic Akumai had the Mark Asa men ahead in the 51st minute after a dull opening half only for super substitute Brian Lisamukha to settle the scores for Naibois four minutes later.
The stalemate was however, not enough to lift Leons out of the red zone as they remained rooted rock bottom of the NSL table on 2 points after six matches and Nairobi moved to 8th having played two matches less.
Mombasa Stars 1-2 Mathare United
At the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa, Mathare United suffered their first loss of the season as they sunk 3-1 to a much-revamped Mombasa Stars relegating them out of the promotion bracket.
Red hot Ramadhan Mwanzia opened the scoring for the Mohammed Madaga coached entity before Joel Kihara doubled the host lead halfway the first stanza with Elias Cheruiyot halving the score line on the stroke of half time but his goal could only serve as a consolation for the 2008 Kenya Premier League Champions. Brian Muraya scored in his third consecutive match to seal a second win of the term for Mombasa.
Rainbow 0-1 Migori Youth
At the Kasarani Annex, Rainbow FC poor start to life in the second tier continued as the club failed to win in their fourth match in a row. Tony Bradley 16th minute strike was enough for Migori Youth to walk way with tree points in their second successive match. A similar result was witnessed at the Mumias Sports Complex as Mombasa Elites thrashed Mulembe United thanks to Daniel License goal in the 47th minute.
