The match started at a slow pace, both teams cautious with their attacks, perhaps out of the fear of conceding an early goal.

However, Police started growing into the match by the 15th minute with Charles Ouma and Asante Nana exerting their dominance over Alpha Onyango and Jackson Dwang’.

Police would then get their first opportunity to score in the 20th minute when Aboud Omar shot over from a free kick after Hernest Malonga was fouled.

The Law Enforcers would then take the lead in the 22nd minute when Chonjo pounced on a ball after a failed clearance by Gor Mahia.

Gor Mahia responded with a series of attacks but Samuel Kapen and Shariff Musa were not clinical.

The 21-time champions would then waste a glorious chance to draw level in the 45th minute after Ebenezer Adukwaw saw his header saved by Daniel Ogembo for a corner.

In the second half, Gor increased their tempo and had their first chance in the 49th minute but Mike Kibwage’s strike went over the bar.

Two minutes later, Ogembo was yellow carded for time wasting as the referee sought to control the match.

Adukwaw would then miss a chance to draw Gor level in the 57th minute after he headed wide.

Gor got a lifeline in the 87th minute when Assifuah pounced on a ball inside the box after Patrick Essombe controlled an Onyona cross to secure a point for Mahia.

Gor have now moved to 65 points, seven points above AFC Leopards ahead of their next match away to Murang’a Seal.
