Through their social media accounts, Ulinzi confirmed the departure of the youngster, who is expected to start his trials on Monday.

We wish our left back, Talena Ochieng, all the best as he departs for Spain for trials. His hard work, discipline, and determination have earned him this opportunity. Go shine and make the most of it, champ.

The entire club is behind you every step of the way,” read the post by the 2010 FKF Premier League champions.

In Spain, Talena will try out with Juventud de Torremolinos CF and other interested clubs.

Founded in 1958, Juventud have won, among others, the Copa Del Rey.

The third-tier club is currently struggling for form as they are ranked 16th in the 20-team league standings.

Should Ochieng be successful, he will join other Kenyans currently plying their trade in Spanish football, including Job Ochieng with Real Sociedad, Aldrine Kibet with Celta Fortuna, Amos Wanjala with Valencia CF and Jack Ong’anya with Cadiz CF.

This is not the first time Ochieng will be kicking the ball in Spain, as he was part of the Kenyan U19 team that won the Costa Daurada Cup in 2024.

The Makongeni-born player was part of the Rising Stars team that featured in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.

Meanwhile, Javan Omondi has taken another significant step in his burgeoning career after completing a move to Hickory FC, exactly a year after relocating to the United States.

Omondi joins the USL League Two side, part of the fourth tier of the American soccer pyramid, from Liberty NCAA.

The move marked yet another milestone in a journey that continues to gather pace.

“I’m really excited to join Hickory FC. This is a great opportunity for me to keep growing, challenge myself in a new environment, and contribute to the team’s ambitions. I’m grateful for the chance and ready to give my all,” Omondi said.
