The decisive game was staged at ASK Showground in Eldoret on Saturday, 9 May.

The Kitale-based outfit confirmed their place in the second tier following Gregory Agesa’s brace in a crucial top-of-the-table clash that pushed their tally to 59 points, 15 ahead of GFE 105, effectively ending the Zone C title race.

The result means no team can mathematically catch the Yohanna Wanyama-coached side, who also benefit from the revised promotion structure introduced at the end of last season that grants direct promotion to Division One zonal winners.

Previously operating as Matunda Sports Club before rebranding into Kiminini Combined, the Baazuu Boys have enjoyed a near flawless campaign, winning 18 of their 24 matches, drawing five and suffering just one defeat all season.

Their dominance has equally reflected at both ends of the pitch, with the Trans Nzoia side scoring 51 goals while conceding only 11 in the process.

Founded in December 2022 under the patronage of Kiminini MP Maurice Kakai Bisau, the club was established with the vision of creating a pathway for local talent while giving young footballers from the region an opportunity to pursue professional careers.

At the time, few could have predicted how quickly the club would climb through the ranks of Kenyan football.

Kiminini Combined first announced themselves by winning the FKF Division Two Western Zone title before earning promotion to Division One during the 2023 playoffs in Busia.

Rather than struggle after promotion, the club adapted quickly to Division One football and steadily established itself among the most competitive sides in the league.

In their debut 2023/24 campaign at that level, they finished sixth.

Behind the scenes, the club continued investing in youth development, recruitment and infrastructure, with Ndura Sports Complex in Kitale gradually becoming one of the toughest venues for visiting teams.

Their growing support base across Kiminini and the larger Trans Nzoia region also helped shape a strong club identity, something many lower-tier sides often struggle to build.

The 2024/25 season brought bigger expectations as the club openly targeted NSL promotion, but after narrowly missing out, that hunger eventually fueled a dominant 2025/26 campaign as Kiminini established themselves as genuine promotion favourites through a series of consistent performances.

The club has also started gaining recognition for developing players capable of taking the next step in Kenyan football, with former player David Sakwa emerging as one of the clearest examples of the growing project taking shape in Kiminini.

Meanwhile, the race for promotion in Division One Zone D remains open, with Mfalme maintaining a two-point lead over second-placed Compel.

In Zone B, Kibera Soccer hold a seven-point advantage over Kangemi All Stars, while Simba Apparel leads Zone A by a single point ahead of Spitfire as the promotion battle heads into the final stretch.
