La Dea's run is done, but she'll spend New Year's Eve at the top

After 11 consecutive Serie A wins, Atalanta drew 1-1 against Lazio but kept the leading position

One of the most significant characteristics of title contenders is that they can avoid defeat even when they are on the verge of it. If Atalanta's capability of grabbing the Scudetto was questionable until now, after last night's duel against Lazio, it's crystal clear - Gian Piero Gasperini's men can win it.

Once again, Lazio proved to be a tricky opponent, as Ie Aquile were 1-0 up until the 88th minute thanks to the Nigerian Fisayo Dele-Bashiru's 27th-minute opener. Atalanta were on the verge of their first Serie A defeat after September 24 and the 3-2 loss to Como. La Dea made an 11-game winning streak since, which Lazio ended, but Marco Baroni's men kept only a point instead of all the spoils.

Gasperini's crew's saviour was the sub, Marco Brescianini - who replaced Sead Kolasinac only four minutes earlier - who crowned Nicolo Zaniolo's timely pass and Ademola Lookman's assist with an 88th-minute equalizer and won a point for his team.

Napoli are currently three points behind, but regardless of the outcome of their clash against Venezia (17.00), Atalanta will await 2025 at the top of the table, though Inter Milan played one match less.
