Lonely Szoboszlai: "I'm just sitting on the couch wondering about what to do. Salah is amazing and Haaland is sick"

Liverpool's recent signing admits he's often feeling homesick in England and has discussed training methods used by Salah and Haaland

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed he has struggled with feeling lonely at points since his move to the Premier League. The Hungarian international moved to Liverpool from German club RB Leipzig in a $74 million deal and has immediately proved himself to be a crucial cog in Jurgen Klopp's midfield set-up. But not everything is going smoothly in this new chapter of his career.

Even though the all-action midfielder has already scored once and provided two assists as he looks to fill the void left by the departures of Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, James Milner and Fabinho, he admitted to certain problems. And he compared his fitness regime to that of Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland.

The 23-year-old revealed to a Hungarian podcast he has been struggling off the pitch as he adapts to his new life in England.

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel lonely sometimes. There are days when I'm just sitting on the couch, wondering what to do. Then I put on a movie and try to fall asleep, hoping for tomorrow."

Despite such struggles, Szoboszlai was upbeat about his on-field performances, having played every minute of Liverpool's Premier League campaign so far this season and reiterated his desire to throw himself into the footballing project at Anfield.

"I want to play in every game, even if I'm a bit tired. I'm in good condition when I'm constantly needed, like when I can play on Thursday and Sunday, because there's no training, recovery, concentration, match, recovery, match, and this goes on and on, which is perfect for me."

Even if spending time on the couch isn't very inspiring, the Hungarian international uses every minute in Liverpool's training centre to learn new things and use his teammates' experience. As he found out - there aren't any better role models than Salah.

"I talked to him often because I was interested in how he saw it. He didn't do it until he was about 28 years old, then he decided not to eat pasta or bread. He doesn't drink alcohol. He's been doing this since then, and if there's training at noon, he's already in the gym at 10.30. I don't judge anyone. Everyone can do whatever they want.

Szoboszlai hilariously didn't enjoy some of the relaxing and training methods used by another Premier League superstar.

"When Haaland and I played together for Red Bull Salzburg, I meditated with him two or three times. We were in the same room, and at first, I looked stupid, and then I got in. He had a pair of glasses that he wore, and I used them for a while because he said they would make me sleep better and sleep faster, but if I had, I would wear them now. It didn't help me, but maybe it's because I didn't believe in him as much as he did, but that's everyone's own business. He does a lot of things that people probably don't know, but I've been to his apartment. The guy is a bit sick."

Klopp's side travel to Luton this weekend as they look to extend their six-game unbeaten run that sees them sitting just three points off table-toppers Tottenham.
