
Losing debut for Johanna Omolo in Belgium as Sichenje helps KuPS reclaim top spot

Omolo was unveiled at Oostende on Friday
Kenyan international Johanna Omolo made his debut for KV Oostende on Sunday afternoon as they fell 0-1 to Lommel in their season opener in the Belgium Challenger Pro League.
The 34-year-old featured for slightly over an hour before being withdrawn for Thiery Winstone Ambrose in the 65th minute while the game was locked at 0-0.
However, Hungarian 18-year-old striker Zalán Vancsa struck right at the death to see Oostende start their campaign in the second tier with a loss.
Omolo was unveiled at Oostende on Friday, being brought in to aid with defensive midfield duties as the club seeks to bounce back to the top-tier after suffering relegation at the end of last season.

Oostende is Omolo's sixth station in Belgium having been in the ranks of Beerschot, Lommel, Antwerp, Cercle Brugge, and Visé.
Up next for Oostende is a trip to face off with Deinze on Saturday as they seek their first win of the season.
Collins Sichenje
In Finland, another Kenyan international Collins Sichenje played the whole length of the match as KuPS beat Ilves 3-0 on the road to go top of the standings.
With three matches left to the end of the regular season, KuPS sit at the top of the Finnish top-tier league with 38 points, one ahead of second-placed HJK.
The former AFC Leopards player has made 15 appearances in the 19 matches that KuPS has played, starting in 14 of those and coming off the bench only once.
Jake Jervis opened the scoring for KuPS in the second minute with Axel Vidjeskog doubling the advantage from the spot in the second minute of stoppage time in the first period.
Substitute Gabriel Bispo scored the third in stoppage time of the second period as KuPS recorded their 12th win of the campaign.
Up next for Sichenje and KuPS is a home encounter against third-placed SJK next Sunday.
