Midfielder reveals that all the good performance on the pitch has been largely due to the support he received from mother.
Midfielder Jackson Macharia, who won Tusker’s February player of the month award today, has dedicated the gong to his mother. Coming just a day after the International Women’s Day, the player who has mostly been used as an impact player by the Robert Matano led side, indicated that all the good performance on the pitch has been largely due to the support she has received from her.
“I dedicate this award to my mum because she has been very supportive of all my endeavours and has been there for me all through. To me, she’s the best and she is part of my success. I really feel grateful to be rewarded by the team but it is not just my effort,” he stated in an interview from the club’s official website.
Macharia earned the February award after scoring three goals in that month. He stepped off the bench to score a last-minute winner in a 1-0 victory over Wazito FC, before restoring parity for Tusker in a tough 2-1 win over Nzoia Sugar. Macharia was also involved in one of the four goals in a 4-1 victory over Posta Rangers.

The super-sub, who seems to have a close connection with his mum, was also quick to attribute his success to his fellow teammates who play a pivotal role to his performance.
“It has been a collective team effort and everyone has been working hard from the technical bench to the players. As a team, we are pleased with the performance we have had. This is a motivation to keep working hard and make achievements for the team. We need to ensure that the performance remains on top. I will keep giving my best for the team,” he revealed.
Tusker’s next assignment after the international break will be Nairobi City Stars on the 20th of March. Macharia and the entire squad will be hoping to extend, if not maintain their current six-point lead at the top of the league standings.
