The fans told the players that a defeat against Rennes is not an option
Itās just beginning of February, but Marseille is already in trouble. Since the season 2019/20, the famous French club managed only three second places in Ligue 1, and their last trophy was way back in 2010 when they beat Bordeaux 3-1 in Coupe de la Ligue Final. At the moment, they are third in Ligue 1 with seven points less than the second placed Lens and they are out of Europe. So, the cup is their only opportunity to save the season with any kind of trophy, especially since PSG was knocked out in the previous round. The problem is, they are not facing some lower league team, they are facing Rennes at home, and they are in a middle of (another) result crisis.

Players, staff and club officials gathered at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus Training Centre for a 90-minute meeting. Everyone was there, from Roberto De Zerbi, sporting director Mehdi Benatia and president Pablo Longoria to the players. As per RMC Sport, around 50 supporters attended the discussion, which passed without tension or confrontation, according to those present.
