Greenwood and Auba are not enough to heal OM's Champions League traumas

Marseille were 2-0 up against Paris FC on Saturday night, but conceded two late goals for another heavy blow (2-2)
Robert De Zerbi is living on borrowed time in Marseille.
Over the past few days, his future has become the hottest topic in the city - and the Champions League exit at the hands of Club Brugge (0-3) only poured fuel on the fire. As soon as the final whistle blew, whispers turned into noise: the Italian was suddenly on thin ice.
De Zerbi didn't even join the squad in Clairefontaine ahead of the Paris clash. Instead, he was locked in talks with club officials. Marseille are angry at everything: more at the players than the coach, but as always, the coach is the easiest target.

After the chaos that unfolded in the final ten minutes against Paris and a disappointing 2-2 draw, it's a legitimate question whether De Zerbi will still be in charge tomorrow, or already out of a job.
What Marseille allowed themselves in that closing stretch defies logic. Or rather, what Geronimo Rulli did.
The goalkeeper's nightmare moment came deep into stoppage time: he went to punch the ball, missed it completely and instead floored Nuno Sangi. The referee had no hesitation. Penalty. Ilan Kebbal was ruthless, 2-2.
Even De Zerbi had no answer. And judging by the stunned look on sporting director Mehdi Benatia's face in the stands, neither did the club.
There will be no comfort for the Italian. He had already been under fire from fans, and now the criticism will be louder. His late substitutions backfired, while his attempt to shut the game down and rely on counters collapsed spectacularly. Coming so soon after the Brugge UCL disaster, this felt less like a draw and more like a defeat. Salt in the wound.
All of it wasted another outstanding performance from Mason Greenwood.
The Englishman was once again Marseille's lifeline. Calm from the penalty spot in the 18th minute, then relentless for the rest of the night, tormenting Paris' defence. Early in the second half, he tore down the right flank and served Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a plate. The veteran didn't miss.

Greenwood's influence is undeniable: 28 goal contributions in 30 games this season (21 goals, seven assists), following 22 goals and six assists in 34 matches last year.
He's the player who makes Marseille relevant, but even that might not be enough to save De Zerbi.
Olympique chose self-destruction in the end. It began with Jonathan Ikone's goal in the 82nd minute - another moment where Rulli could have done better, beaten at his near post from a set piece. What followed felt inevitable. And it may yet prove to be the beginning of the end for Roberto De Zerbi in the pressure cooker that is Olympique Marseille.
