Kamau faced the chop following the Slum Boys’ bad run of form that saw them taste victory just twice in 11 games.
The club is presently ranked 14th with just three points above Ulinzi Stars in the red zone.
With an enormous task of ensuring the team retain their league status, the former Wazito coach explained his approach in that task.
“It is all about individual talks with each player and giving them the hope, belief as well as showing them the bigger picture which is Mathare United and to ensure the team plays in the FKFPL next season,” said the former Modern Coast Rangers boss.
According to the tactician, the technical bench is majoring on the psychological and mental aspect of the team, rather than the technical and tactical part which they believe they have players with the capacity to handle.
“They may need to add to their CVs that they helped the club remain in the league. It is about the team. To remind them that if you play for the badge, they will remember the name written behind it and for that reason, all the coaches and players are working towards this,” he added.
Next up for Mathare is a clash against high-flying Mara Sugar on Saturday 16 May at the Awendo Green Stadium.
Later on, the 2008 league winners will face relegation-threatened Ulinzi Stars, before concluding the season with a match against Bandari FC.
