All eyes will be on Awendo Green Stadium, where Migori Youth host Naivas FC in what promises to be the headline clash of the day.
The National Super League action continues on Sunday, 12 April, with five high-stakes encounters set to further shape both the promotion race and the battle for survival, following a dramatic Saturday that saw league leaders Mombasa United stunned by Kibera Black Stars.
That unexpected result has blown the title race wide open, giving second-placed Migori Youth a golden opportunity to close the gap at the summit and potentially draw level on points.
All eyes will be on Awendo Green Stadium, where Migori Youth host Naivas FC in what promises to be the headline clash of the day.
Migori Youth, currently second on 55 points and just three behind Mombasa United, head into the fixture with a clear mandate: secure maximum points and pile pressure at the top.
With promotion ambitions firmly in sight, any slip-up at this stage could prove costly, especially with close challengers Equity FC and 3K FC lurking just behind.
Buoyed by a commanding 3–0 victory over Luanda Villa in their previous outing, Migori Youth will once again rely on a cohesive attacking unit led by Geoffrey Odira, Noah Jagango, Churchill Otieno, and Mike Isabwa.
Notably, that win came in the absence of their talisman and league top scorer, underlining the squad’s depth and resilience under coach Sammy Otulo.
Their formidable home record further strengthens their case. Migori remain unbeaten at home this season, dropping points in only three draws, and have consistently turned Awendo into a fortress.
Victory on Sunday would see them move level on 58 points with Mombasa United and potentially rise to the summit on goal difference.
However, standing in their way is a determined Naivas FC side equally eager to keep their promotion hopes alive.
Sitting eighth on 41 points, the visitors are far from out of contention and will be targeting all three points to sustain their push.
Under coach Elvis Ayani, Naivas have found form at a crucial stage, entering the clash on the back of a morale-boosting win over Kibera Black Stars and an unbeaten run of four matches.
The encounter also carries added edge, with Naivas seeking redemption after a 4–2 defeat in the reverse fixture.
With both sides driven by ambition and urgency, a fiercely contested encounter is expected.
Elsewhere in Kisii, Gucha Stars will host Equity FC at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School in another pivotal fixture. Gucha find themselves in a precarious position, sitting 13th on 32 points and just five above the drop zone.
A run of three consecutive defeats has heightened pressure on coach Sammy Okoth and his charges, who must respond swiftly to avoid being dragged deeper into relegation trouble.
A win would provide much-needed breathing room, lifting them to 35 points and creating a healthier cushion as the season approaches its climax.
They, however, face a stern test against a high-flying Equity FC side.
The bankers, currently third on 52 points, are enjoying a rich vein of form, having registered five consecutive victories.
Coach John Kamara Mbweza’s side will be intent on maintaining momentum and strengthening their promotion credentials.
With little margin for error in a tightly contested top tier, Equity know that any dropped points could see them slip in the standings.
Meanwhile, at Mumboha Grounds, the relegation battle takes centre stage as Vihiga United host Mully Children’s Family (MCF).
With both sides occupying the bottom two positions, the fixture carries enormous significance in the survival race.
MCF, rejuvenated by back-to-back wins, will be chasing a third straight victory to ignite a late escape bid.
A win would take them to 23 points, narrowing the gap to safety and keeping their hopes alive.
Coach Francis Chege’s men appear to be finding form at a critical juncture.
For Vihiga United, rooted at the bottom, the stakes could not be higher.
Anything short of victory would severely dent their survival prospects and deepen concerns over relegation.
The pressure will be immense as they seek to spark a turnaround.
In other fixtures, Kisumu All Stars will host Nairobi City Stars in a clash with implications at both ends of the table.
Kisumu, aiming to climb away from danger, will target maximum points to move to 30 and strengthen their survival bid.
City Stars, meanwhile, enter a new chapter as they begin life without coach Salim Babu and will be desperate to halt a four-match winless run.
At Eldoret Showground, Soy United take on Nzoia Sugar FC in another intriguing encounter, with both sides looking to secure vital points as the season edges closer to its conclusion.
