The defensive midfielder joins Shariff Majabe as former Elite players now in the FKF Premier League

Mombasa Elite technical director Charles Okwemba says defensive midfielder Chris Erambo is destined for greatness even as he tipped him to star at Tusker.

Erambo joined Tusker from Elite in the final days of the transfer window, becoming the second player from the National Super League club to join a club that plied trade in the top flight.

Elite loaned out their skipper Shariff Majabe to Bandari in the window, with the versatile player featuring in dockers' international friendly matches against Coastal Union and Azam as well as the FKF Premier League matches.

Okwemba said Erambo's move to Tusker will see him get refined for a higher calling as Elite have been keen on preparing their players for professional football.

"Tusker is not his final or best destination yet. The move will help him with his development. The goal is to see him play in Europe in future. The move to Tusker also signifies that Elite is doing a good job as well," said the former midfielder.

Meanwhile, Okwemba weighed in on the club's poor start in the new season where they suffered a 5-0 defeat in the hands of debutants Luanda Villa.

The former AFC Leopards midfielder attributed the heavy loss to a number of issues among them is the late introduction of new players to the team and the league.

Okwemba revealed that the team signed a number of young players who got a shocking reality check in the first round.

He however remained optimistic of recovering in the following matches starting with this weekend's clash against Gusii.

"We didn't have the best starts but we will recover. Given the changes we made in the team and particularly the acquisition of new and young players, we expected it, but we will redeem ourselves in the forthcoming matches," added the former Kenyan international.
